SUMMARY (Lou em 14/03/23)
This research aims to produce an interactive virtual narrative about an area of the city of Rio de Janeiro. It is an development of the author’s doctoral thesis, defended in 2014 at PROURB FAU UFRJ, called Graphic Landscape of the City: a look at Rio de Janeiro.
It is intended to update the image classification methodology, carried out during the doctoral course, from more recent studies for image recognition, through artificial intelligence processes, in order to facilitate possible analyzes in the extensive database already produced .
In this work, the proposed clipping focuses on everyday routes, in the neighborhoods of Leblon and Ipanema, recorded in photographs and videos taken in the last 20 years, composing a personal portrait of a recent history.
The proposed virtual platform intends to bring together Images and micronarratives, in a three-dimensional environment that represent the current urban space and can be visited on screen or in virtual reality. However, this hybrid space should receive images and micronarratives made at different times, navigable by hypertextual elements, in order to allow multiple layers of meanings. It is also planned to insert interaction elements on the streets that allow passers-by to view records of that same location in virtual space, on their cell phone screen.
For the development of the narrative, the fields of image recognition through Artificial Intelligence, data visualization and hypermedia design, mapping and simulation of three-dimensional environments and mixed realities will be studied.
